30 stitches


a scarf
a cowl
mittens
and a getting started sample wrist warmer
all with 30 stitches

this is the projects for the beginner knitting class at Notebook's The Craft Room

materials needed
1 ball Bendigo Rustic 12ply - Peppercorn is the colourway in the photos
6mm needles
4 buttons for the scarf/ cowl
1 button for the wrist warmer
needle to sew in ends



1. Wrist Warmer
Cast on 5 stitches
Knit 4 rows
5th Row – knit 1 stitch, k2tog, YO twice, knit 2 stitches
6th Row – knit 2 stitches, knit 1 stitch into the double yarn over, knit 2 stitches – 5 stitches in total
Continue knitting until it goes around your wrist and overlaps the button hole by about 4 rows
Cast off
Finishing – sew in ends and attach button and adorn to your wrist










2. 30 Stitches Scarf or Cowl
download now
Cast on 30 stitches
Knit 4 rows
5th Row – knit 1 stitch, k2tog, YO twice, knit 2 stitches
6th Row – knit 2 stitches, knit 1 stitch into the double yarn overs as you com across them– 30 stitches in total
Continue knitting until it goes around your neck and overlaps the button holes by 4 rows for a cowl or about 120cm for the scarf
Cast off
Finishing – sew in ends and attach button and adorn to your neck


















3. 30 Stitches Mittens – make 2

Cast on 30 stitches
Knit each row
Continue knitting until it goes around your wrist but isn’t too loose
Cast off
Finishing – sew in ends and sew up side – leaving about 2cm for thumb at top – join at top
