reflections

I have really loved living in this house

the red door is the best

There are a few little things that annoy me but I think in the end now where is perfect and you learn to live with those small things.

it is so cold I am sitting on heater - PO

The one thing I am really excited about in the new house is the dishwasher - and I will tell you all now if it doesn't work I am going out and getting a new one straight away!!!!!  I am sure the first thing I will show you is the dishwasher.

i am just hiding on couch- Tom

When we went looking for the new car last year it was all about the cup holder -and to tell you the truth the car doesn't really live up to it's purchase directive.  The cup holders are not the best really.  So I am saying right now if the dishwasher doesn't wash dishes it will be sacked and a replacement hired in.  I said that already didn't I.

I was completely trashed at the end of yesterday - packing sorting moving things around,  today I am taking it easy and resting a bit.  We have booked final inspections, key pickups and cleaners.  With the old house I have sorted out the painter, the plumber and met the real estate agent - getting sorted there too.  The guys who we rent from gave us the big table in the kitchen - which we are really stoked about - knitters all you must come over and have more knitting around the table in the new house!!!

I am currently in the middle of a funk with my knitting - so I am looking not back but forward.  I purchased some shetland yarn from Reccie on the de-stash and part of this will become Kate Davies Neep Heid, you will need to scroll down the page past Manu which is on the needles and slowly progressing.  I also succumbed to some 5ply Madelinetosh which at this moment is destined to become Goodale, but I reserve the right to change my knitter's mind in the future if the wool decides to be something else.

yummy yummy

trying to decide on colourways...

Today is Bell's birthday - so go over and wish her a very happy #Bellsday.

To everyone off to Bendigo for the wool festival I hope you all have a fantastic time and cuddle lots of fleece bearing animals - meet lots of like minded fibre nuts and have a great time.

Tip of the day - check out the label of the post

seeing red

I am getting a bit addicted to red and a certain wool label at the moment. There is one more ball in the mail too.  My first ball was from Rosered and the rest are just company really.  I am obsessed with the different hues and tones of the reds here.

My currently fondling obsession is the third one from the left  and although I have show knitting and a small toy to make I am tempted to cast on this shawl.

The lace weight at the far right may just become a featherweight.

My second show entry is complete and I am just over the hump with the third.  I was sailing along last night when I realised again how bad my pattern reading skills are - and had to unpick back to the start of the decrease.  Now I am doing the 'have I enough wool' fret.

My 3rd pair of socks for 2010 are coming along nicely and I am currently researching the next pair - as I did two for S.V. I think the next pair is for me again.  I am not sure whether to start the hard ones or not as yet.

I just could not resist the Sunny-boy bag from buttontree lane.  The print and the shape takes me back to my childhood.

Finally a hello from the kittens - Tom is just about disinterested in yarn and Po is still in love of heights.

i am seriously not eating for the rest of the year

after the last week I am taking this advice seriously.....

but first I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone for their lovely comments and thoughts - I am not sure what is happening at the moment but I am just taking each day as it comes. Sadly the blog has suffered but I am knitting and still going about most things.

(after I last spoke we kept going during our trip in Melbourne and after reading this I was so embarrassed and amazed at how much we did and ate I wasn't going to post it but after discussion at knitting on Thursday I was encouraged to here goes -)

Monday night in Yarraville with friend for a most delicious dinner of Rabbit and English cider.  Apparently these are about $6 each at Footscray markets.

Tuesday dinner after a great day in Baccas Marsh catching up with friends in their new holiday house which is very cool.  We had dinner in the city at Cumulus inc. for a dinner with my newly minted Dr S.I.L. who was in the midst of her first week of work and like us very tired.  This eating caper does wear one out.

Wednesday I had a great day with Gusseting looking at Art, shoes, fondling yarn and drinking coffee
Dinner was at Cicciolina again amazing.

You might be getting the picture here - a lot of food.  We kept going

I caught the train up to Bendigo on Thursday and met the gorgeous Annie, 9 months, and caught up with her Mum and brother and some fabulous Bendigo knitters.  I should also mention that the mill did get a visit too. All of the Bendigo knitters were so welcoming and I bored them stupid with work stories.  I napped on the train on the way back and caught a tram to La Luna where I met the most amazing Adrian Richardson - who regaled us with talk of his new prosciutto  press, yum, and garage at home to cook in.  I had the pork loin with too much great Shiraz and it was amazing.

Would you have stopped at this point, not us.  A drive to Healseville to meet another new addition to the world Evelyn is 3 months old and really really cute.  Then a drive through the rejuvenating bush, and some still scary vistas from last year.  We headed to Beechworth, via A.C.S. at Wangaratta,  for another amazing dinner at Wardens.  As we drove up the highway the temperature outside reached 44.5 degrees C wow but the great car kept us cool.

We spent yesterday checking out wineries and have enough wine to drink one bottle a week for the next year. including  Pennyweight, Jones and Scion

WOW 50 bottles of wine now under the house and the best part of 5 kilos of wool - I am evil and did make others partake in this haul, later we are back home enjoying some great roses.

I met Adrian Richardson

Turning a corner part 2 - the evidence

Thank you Yarn Harlot!!!
and if there were not hundreds of comments on your blog I could thank you myself.

I get the heel turn and even though i have done this before closely following a pattern - never so blind or jumping off a cliff.

And it worked, brilliantly!

And the recipient loved them - shame that it is high 20s up here and not at all suitable weather to wear wool alpaca socks!!! Snowy mountains here we come.......
