FO 2011 Daffodil

This Cardigan has been on my list for a while (and the sandals are finally in the post would you believe).

Last week I had a solid run of holiday and nothing to do - bad weather, a comfy couch and the TV series on DVD 'The Killing', and my own personal chef - well we did take turns sort of,  I did breakfast and he did dinner - yum yum yum.

This is what happened

I reused some yarn bought back in 2002 for a cardie that just never looked good on my or anyone that I tried to give it to.

But I loved the yarn - my favourite as you know in another guise of Tango, Rowan Felted Tweed and I really loved the grey

I did a test to see which colour would go for the stripe - I hope you agree with me on the icy blue I picked, the last one on the right.

I still need to sew in the ends, block and find the perfect buttons - me thinks grey or ice blue

S02011
I have started my super duper sock club 2011 socks - but I am sort of stuck at the heel - but really want to meet up with my fellow sock knitters and discuss.  I want the thrill of talking about the sock with my fellow super duper sock knitters.......
I am loving the wollmiese sock yarn to knit with - just a tiny bit splitty but otherwise a great knit.

Running update - so far really good
3rd Jan -3.02kms
4th Jan - 3.22km
5th Jan - 3.35km
9th Jan - 7.48kms
Total this week - 17.07kms - wow a bit more than I thought - but the trick is to keep it up when work gets mad as it will in the next two weeks

I am really really tempted to knit another pi shawl with holes and in a really fine lace weight like this one- am I mad....

But wait there is more

There is the whole section of tango cardigans that I completely forgot about

1.  Peasy

and I forgot a few others

and I must not forget  either Featherweight or Mountain view - of which I have seen some delightful and inspiring projects underway in the past little while.

perhaps there is a theme here - I love a yoke and I am tending to think more about wear and the challenge of construction.  Which gives out the challenge or the finished garment.  How much does this effect your choice of garment?

Cardigan update

I just got the yarn to knit Gooseberry Cardigan in the mail today - weeee in the colour and yarn specified in the pattern - the colour is better in real life.

for Enid I have the Reynold's Whiskey as the pattern specifies- which so far knits up beautifully

The Cardigan

I love a cardie.  Lord Cardigan apparently wore a knitted vest that opened at the front.  If I am to believe Wikipedia he had quite a scandalous life.
I digress - I love a cardigan especially in Sydney where it never really gets cold - and also in other climates as it is good for a layer.  I am not one for a turtle neck or a jumper as I get too hot - but a button/ zipped up item suits me just fine.

I currently have about 5 pages of cardigans lined up in my Raverly queue

Top of my list is
1.

I am debating where or not to get the kit for the wool from Denmark.

I love Gudrun's designs and I think this one would knit up quick and be a great wear.  I have a grey or a red that would look great in this.

this one is in 8 ply so could take a bit longer to knit up - and I wouldn't make it as long

4. Enid

I have the wool for this swatched and ready to go

I have some gorgeous charcoal bendigo wool lined up for this one

I have either that charcoal or red 10ply lined up for this too.  This I have wanted to knit for ages

there are more but I really had to stop somewhere.....

off the cardie topic I have the wool to knit this up for winter this year and I can't wait - now to break out the winter stash.....

Viften - F.O.

So I finished my Viften yesterday.  I may have botched up the sewing together and I now feel it isn't quite perfect enough for the show but I am going to proceed anyway with the entry.
This was a really interesting knit - the construction is two fronts with curved edges that make up the collar, the back and the sleeves - with raglan shaping.  I had hoped that I had enough wool to make the long sleeves but after a slight panic at the Knitters' guild AGM I forgo that thought and just stuck with the short sleeves.   The sleeves are a bit snug and the fronts quite billowy.  I did have heaps of positive comments at work yesterday and one makeup friend nearly stole it from my bag - saying I'd buy that if I saw it in the shops.  I am really pleased with the colour and wish I could be taking it away with me to show off this weekend.

The knit picks yarn did knit up well and towards the end I was spit splicing it together - this was a first for me.  There were a couple of mistakes with the slipped stitch that I dropped and fixed as I was going and I am so less fearful of fixing things on the go now.

So now for another cardie for me - I have cast on tea leaves in the correct yarn - and I am in love with the colour of this one.  In my head I am determined to knit the list of cardies I have had ruminating for the past year or so........but that list I will save for another post.

Po was most upset I moved his scratching post this morning to take photos, then had renewed interest in scratching whilst I was photographing.
