I don't think the beginning of the year has anything to do with this behaviour - it's just your constant knitting enthusiasm and it's wonderfully infectious. 'Bitterroot' is another Knitty shawl pattern I'd managed to overlook - isn't it lovely?
I agree with Lyn - your enthusiasm and passion is the cause and long may it be so. I have admired Bitterroot also - just not sure that I am up to the whole bead thing. And I have a long list of shawls calling to me....

I believe the new year has given me a new leap of faith toys, shawls.
Alas the heat tonight had denied me the finish to the Entomology Shawl.
