Help - I need to write this pattern up but I don't read crochet patterns - can anyone help?

I am going to make a spare in the next week or so - and during that I was hoping to write this up to share the hoot love with everyone

I have again ventured into the world of crochet- just for a moment and this little fella is off being assessed by the head honchos for approval.  I am hoping to write up this pattern too - one day.

3 years ago today I was bored on the Gold Coast working on low brow TV wondering how to fill in the hours when I was not knitting or drafting.

Thus this blog was born - musings and photos and knitting and pretty much anything I can think of gets chewed on over here.

So thanks to you all for your patience, comments and reading my words.

So knitting wise I am going to have a personal sock club for 2010, I think I have said this already.  There are two piles one for me and one for S.V.  Can you guess which pile is for whom.  I am planning on a pair every 6 weeks and I know the piles add up to more but I like choice and I am not good with have to knits.





Here are the first socks of 2010 personal sock club underway , and for Sock Victim- a regia cotton yarn perfect for summer

Knitabulous yarn is my weakness at the moment and the club at the moment is fab I am part way through my first sock

this just slipped into my stash this month too......

this is the second instalment of the yarn - a 50/50 wool silk blend just perfect for a scarf or shawl.....

Then there is the test swatch for Viften - or Fan for the Easter show in knit picks - I am loving it, the purl is a slip stitch on the wrong side.  A few more rows and I will block this for measuring.

As I have learnt over that past few weeks crochet is not at all evil - but actually quite fun

coffee cats & crochet

This is my new keep cup for coffee - I have about 1 coffee a day sometimes 2 and I saw these in a magazine a little while back and sourced this one on friday from this neat shop on Cleveland St next to Bird Textiles another favourite.
It is a small - I can't stand a big coffee I end up flying with too much caffeine in my system.

The cats are up to their usual tricks - Po gave us a surprise this morning way up on high.  Then when I took the photo I noticed Tom lying around on the porch underneath.

The rug is now 1/2 way done and I am on the home stretch.  I thought I would crochet them all and then sort out how I would arrange the colours.

weekend adventures

this is the little kitchen where the magic happened on the weekend - at the red dog retreat it is so good and I am a bit reluctant to share as well I want to keep this to myself.  But my better nature got the better of me - and you can take your dogs or kittens with you - ours are not at all well behaved and stayed at home

Fever

First there was shawl flu and now there is a fever of crochet going on over here.
I  spent snippets of yesterday working out how to read the pattern and what the various terms mean.
I found I could go so far and then have to do it and then absorb the new terms and ways.  I would look to the next set of instructions and then get confused.  
Then a little while on I would look again at the instructions and it would magically make sense.  

Here is the pattern and yarn purchased at the sale at Morris and Sons the other day on the way to knitting.  I bought some thicker crochet hooks as the thin ones hurt my hands and I don't want a repeat of last years hand injury.
Rosered laughed at my crochet technique  - there is a marathon of room for improvement there I think.  Slowly slowly I move forward.

Fear not the knitting is not suffering I have cast on another pair of socks and I am currently pondering another

crochet is not really evil

Ok I confess to not really liking crochet. Not to the extent of the hate I have for novelty yarns, especially furry and eyelash ones, but the texture isn't one of my favourites. ( I have been known to moan loudly in the presence of crochet so you are most welcome to moan back at me now)

Perhaps being a child in the 1970's I was subjected to too much nuts and berries, macrame, ponchos, clogs and general hippy stuff. And ugly crochet.

Considering all of this I was strangely smitten with kgirlknits granny a day and Pip over at meet me at mikes. (I think this was because kgirl has killer taste in colours and this alone sold me) When I was at the Wang wool mill store a while back I bought a bag of beige 8ply with this scheme in mind. I am also keen to work my way through some 8ply ends I have floating around.

And there has been another spate of babies born in the last week or so and I thought these would make great baby blankets - if they get beyond our couch.

A granny a day it is - and I have a jump on 3 already for this week.
